I am adopting a child. Can I take time off work under the FMLA?
The Family and Medical Leave Act treats adoptive parents the same as biological ones. If you are arranging an adoption, you can take time off to help your child settle in to his or her new home, just as if you or your spouse were giving birth. You are may miss up to 12 weeks of work within a year.
