Texarkana woman files gender discrimination suit

by Administrator 5. October 2010 07:50

A former employee of Advance Construction Service Inc. in Texarkana, Sheria Martz, has filed a gender discrimination lawsuit against her former employer in the Eastern District of Texas.

Martz alleges that she was the victim of sexual harassment and gender discrimination from her supervisor.  Court documents state that her supervisor frequently referred to her in obscene terms and commented on her figure.  After complaining to management about the harassment Martz's schedule was reduced and she was told to get used to the work environment or quit.  Martz was fired after refusing to "either get over it and go back to work or quit".

The lawsuit seeks damages for Martz's lost wages and benefits, emotional stress, physical problems, damage to personal relationships and court and attorney costs.
