The Supreme Court is currently reviewing a class action gender discrimination lawsuit made against Wal-Mart by at least 500,000 women employees. The suit claims that Wal-Mart favored men in promotions, salaries, and hourly wages. The court is expected to decide on whether or not the case should be pursued by June.
The women employees argue that Wal-Mart's coporate culture has created an environment promoting gender discrimination at more than 3,400 Wal-Mart locations across the country. According to court documents, executives at Wal-Mart's headquarters in Bentonville, Arkansas stereotype women as less aggressive in the workplace and this attitude has been spread to store managers and supervisors across the country.
