Galveston woman files suit, hostile workplace caused emotional distress

A Galveston woman says she experienced "severe emotional distress" after working in a hostile work environment at Zachary Industrial, Inc. in Galveston for almost 5 years.  The woman was employed by Zachary as a safety compliance supervisor before being terminated in May 2010.

In a lawsuit filed against Zachary, the woman claims that she was subjected to gender discrimination, racial discrimination, and sexual harassment.  After reporting the illegal workplace practices, the woman says she was retaliated against and wrongfully terminated.

The former employee told executives at the company's headquarters in San Antonio that she was the victim of inappropriate touching and offensive comments in the workplace.  Shortly after reporting the offenses, a supervisor fired her from her position with the company.
