Female firefighters take case to City Hall

by Administrator 3. August 2009 09:16

Five female firefighters went to City Hall Tuesday to tell city lawmakers that the culture at some Houston fire stations needs to change. The verteran firefighters alleged that they and other minorities are being harrassed on the job.

In March, a number of reports confirmed the women's allegations. The reports say that a noose was found at Fire Station 41, and at Fire Station 54, someone painted sexually and racially charged remarks on the walls.

The five women allege that they have been targets of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. They say they were also forced to turn a blind eye to safety codes.
