No-FEAR Act of 2002
In 2002, a federal law overseeing the punishment of managers in federal positions was passed called the Notification and Federal Employee Antidiscrimination and Retaliation Act, or No FEAR Act. This piece of legislation is intended to reinforce laws that prevent discrimination in federal jobs. The No FEAR Act also contained information about how common discrimination has become in these positions and what measures may be taken to reverse the effects of this illegal act.
If you or someone you love has been discriminated against in the workplace, you have the right to defend yourself against this unlawful practice. Contact the Houston employment attorneys of the Ross Law Group at 713-482-6910 to discuss your case with a qualified lawyer today.
Information Presented in the No FEAR Act
The No FEAR Act contained facts and findings about the amount of discrimination that had previously and was currently being committed in federal jobs. Some of the government agencies that had exhibited this type of civil rights violation include:
- The Department of Agriculture
- The Social Security Administration (SSA)
- The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA)
- The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
- The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
- Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS)
The No FEAR Act formally requests that the agencies that have violated the rights of employees pay for discrimination cases from their own budgets. This is intended to prevent further discrimination in the future.
