Fair Wages and Hours

While there are individuals who work simply because they choose to, or because they wish to make money in order to reach certain personal goals, there are many people work only for survival. In cases where employers cheat these employees out of their hard-earned money, situations can be stressful and even life-threatening.

Every year, different cases are reported from across the country of employers who have wronged their employees by cutting back on wages without informing the employee beforehand or without informing the employee at all. There a few unfortunately common practices that employers perform to cheat their employees out of their hard-earned wages.

Unpaid Overtime

If someone is working past his or her normal schedule, he or she should be compensated for this time with overtime pay. Many employers have paid workers as if they had worked only for their scheduled hours, failed to pay the overtime hourly rate, or have refused to pay for any of the employee's overtime efforts.

Unpaid Minimum Wage

Many contract workers, undocumented workers, and people who live off minimum wage are common victims of unpaid minimum wage. Some employers feel that these workers are less willing to scrutinize their paychecks and believe that they can circumvent the law with certain workers and positions.

Wage and Hour Disputes

Cases have been filed against employers who have cut back an employee's pay without notifying him or her. Other cases have involved employees not figuring certain number of worked hours into paychecks. It may not be until an audit is issued on the company that these discrepancies are revealed to the employees.
